Person Agreement with Anaphors: Evidence from Tatar

In this paper, I present evidence for variable agreement with anaphors in Tatar. show that inflected reflexives trigger co-varying person as DP/nominalization subjects and complements of postpositions, which appears to contradict the generalization on anaphor effect (AAE). At same time, reciprocals induce 3p external targets. These data are puzzling two aspects. First, it is unclear how derive because cannot be handled a regular exception AAE predicted arise by agreement-based theory if antecedent positioned lower than target. Secondly, difference between respect looks enigmatic. propose Tatar reciprocals, despite their superficial resemblance, have different internal structures, turn bring about differences feature sets, reveals these differences. As violations, can accounted under sharing approach whereby features probe first identified instances set then valued anaphor’s binder.
